When freshening up a sofa, check the fabric first and prepare the glove afterwards. NOVA is designed for uses including upholstery that tolerates water. This does not mean it can clean every sofa or remove every stain.
Step by step
- Check the upholstery care instructionsFind the sofa or fabric manufacturer’s instructions. If they allow dry cleaning only, this method is unsuitable. The colour or appearance of the fabric alone does not prove that it tolerates water.
- Wet and squeeze out NOVAThe PDF information sheet describes soaking and squeezing out the glove, while the online information sheet specifies using it damp. Prepare a wet glove, then squeeze out the excess water. Do not pour water onto the seat.
- Test compatibilityTest the fabric’s reaction on a small, inconspicuous area where this cleaning method is permitted. Assess it again after drying. Stop if its colour or appearance changes.
- Freshen up small areasWipe with the squeezed-out NOVA, following the product information sheet and the fabric care instructions. Do not try to remove a stubborn stain by repeatedly soaking one spot.
- Assess the result after dryingLet the upholstery dry according to its care instructions. Do not assume that the material will remain completely dry after cleaning.
The limits of this method
This guide covers upholstery that may be cleaned with water. It does not cover leather, suede or materials requiring dry cleaning only. We do not give a universal drying time.
