UNDERSTAND, THEN TRY

A few clear rules before your first clean

Start with the surface, not the colour of a glove. Check its care rules, choose the matching material and use no more moisture than the surface allows.

1. Choose the material

White works wet on water-resistant surfaces. Beige works damp. Pink collects dust dry. NOVA is for upholstery that tolerates water; Sunbeam finishes and polishes.

2. Keep the cloth clean

Rinse collected dirt out as you work. A dirty cloth spreads residue. Vacuum dust from pink material instead of releasing it into the room.

3. Finish the surface

Collect remaining moisture and dirt with Sunbeam where appropriate. Use a dry part for polishing and keep water away from joins, edges and electrical openings.

Three everyday situations

Grease on the cooker hood

Grease on the cooker hood

On a cool, water-resistant casing, use the white glove wet. Rinse as it collects grease and finish with Sunbeam. Keep moisture away from controls and electrics.

Fingerprints on a mirror

Fingerprints on a mirror

Try dry Sunbeam first. For persistent marks use a damp cloth, then polish dry. Avoid flooding the edges or rubbing grit into the glass.

Marks on the sofa

Check the fabric care label. Test soaked and squeezed NOVA on a hidden area and let it dry before checking the result. Work without soaking the filling.

A cloth needs care, too

After cleaning

Rinse collected dirt. Wash when needed instead of leaving dirt to dry inside the cloth. Store only clean, dry material.

Washing

For the listed household gloves and Sunbeam, wash by hand with MikroSilver soap or in a machine up to 60°C with NanoSilver Power, following the label. No softener.

Drying

Avoid intensive tumble drying and radiators. Let pink material dry fully before using it for dust. The current label determines the care of a particular model.

Product cards to keep at hand

Six product cards with uses and care instructions. These original documents are in Polish. Open the guide above for the English explanation.

Before first use, also check the current label supplied with your product. A product card describes use; a health certificate and a laboratory report answer different questions.

Fibre and nanosilver

The technology is described as microfibres with silver nanoparticles incorporated into them. The term “microfibre with nanosilver technology” reflects this description. It does not mean that the fibre is made entirely of silver.

The Grey Sunbeam Cleaning Cloth product sheet, no. 422, describes the material as microfibres infused with nanosilver. We check the specific material in each product’s sheet. A set’s overall contents are not the composition of every individual component.

How to read the certificates

Check the product name and variant, document number, date and scope of assessment. A certificate of health quality describes the safety of the specified product when used as intended. Efficacy test results require a separate report describing the sample, method and conditions.

The stated validity dates are subject to the conditions in the documents, including changes to the composition or manufacturing technology and the possibility of amending or revoking the certificate.

Sunbeam tests: sample, method and conditions

The file provided by the manufacturer contains three Ekolabos reports from 2021. Each describes a specific sample and laboratory conditions.

Report RB/4932/02/21: 19 February 2021

Stated references: 141 and 402/409. Test according to ISO 18184:2019, contact time 2 hours, temperature 25°C. The report gives separate results for influenza A H3N2, influenza A H1N1 and human coronavirus 229E.

Report RB/5035/03/2021: 12 March 2021

Stated references: 141 and 402/409. The report cites PN-EN 14476+A2:2019-08 and PN-EN 16615:2015-06; it concerns Vaccinia virus strain Elstree, a contact time of 60 seconds and a temperature of 20°C. The conclusion includes additional conditions for concentration and the interfering substance and must be read alongside the full method description.

Report dated 10 February 2021: blue material, reference 402

Test according to AATCC TM100-2019, contact time 24 hours, temperature 20°C. It concerns Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The title page gives the number RB/4905/02/21, while the footers show RB/4905/01/20; this discrepancy needs confirmation.

The reports distinguish between colloidal silver and nanosilver in their sample descriptions. A specific test result applies to the material and conditions tested; its applicability to the current product variant needs confirmation.

Choosing a product for a specific task

Check whether the selected product is used wet, damp or dry, and how to care for it. Compare the cleaning material’s instructions with the surface manufacturer’s care instructions.
